Witness failed to pick Anthony from a line up - TWICE

Why did the defense not follow up the fact that the only witness to the murder (Sam Vallabhbai) picked out RW (S's son) first at the police line-up; and NOT Anthony Nealy?

The witness was then told by the police that Rodney was 'not the right person', Anthony was never picked from any police identification parade.

The first time that Sam Vallabhbai ever saw Anthony Nealy was 14 months after the incident, when he returned to the US from India and appeared in Court in order to identify Anthony as 'the man with the shotgun' during actual proceedings.
