Letter 3 - 24 July 2000

Today is Monday 24th and I stil have this letter, it should be mailed this week! I hope so anyway. That shoe string turned out to be an extension cord around the guy's neck. He worked in the laundry and he was one of the inmates who brought our sheets and toilet paper etc. Chris, the guy was 25 years old with only a five year sentence. People said he was an informant, but rumours should never be trusted in prison. Since starting this letter, I received a copy of the stuff I sent to the 'people' on the conditions here, in ref to Welcome to Hell [website], I forgot that I had asked for a copy to be mailed back to me, so I'll include it in here as well,if its not too heavy. I received my copy of my state write of habeus corpus, it's a fine piece of work, especially since the whole concept was my idea, the attorney had another attorney to put everything into words and print them up for us. That's another reason why I think its very important for inmates to do everything possible to help save their own lives. No I won't get carried away, just know that there are some things that can always be done, but you have SO many guys here Chris, that just sit around talking shit and not trying to write the lawyers or anything. How can anyone sit back and let someone try to save their lives without even asking the lawyer one question? Chris, I don't have any faith in the appeals court (look at the State). Anyway, that motivated me more to be directly involved in filing the state writ. It was finished and filed all before the appeals court has had a chance to make a ruling on my appeal. I'm waiting on some books from the law library this morning.

I'm putting together some investigative things that need to be checked out in the meantime while I wait on a response from my attorney, yea she's received all 3 or 4 recent letters but hasn't had an opportunity to respond to them because she's trying to meet deadlines and stuff on other people's cases. Now is that fair to me? Or even the other people who need 100% concentration from her? (just got the books from the law library) Anyway, here are a few things I'dlike to ask. Can you send an e-mail from England to someone in the US? I ask this because people in high places over here don'tanswer letters at all! Also, until the next letter, do you think you could find British Solicitor-General Ross Cranston's e-mail address? Roger Hood - Professor of Criminology at Oxford University's e-mail address? And if possible, track down a reporter named Joan Biskupic - email address - in London and writes for newspapers such as the USA Today.

Well Chris, this should do it for the moment. I'll try to be more organised in me old next letter. One other thing - you can blame all this work on Sophie!

Can you see if this is a real site with news? Texasdeathpenaltynews-subscribe@onelist.com
One last thing, the brown envelopes these papers came in are the type of envelopes that's needed, possibly a little bit bigger, around 10x13 and some 6x9s, well it's the only one I had left anyway, its 100 years old.

PS the book turned out to be just fine, okay I'm gone

Love
Ant!
Anthony
