Letters from Anthony

Letter 2 - 28 June 2000 So how is everyone (and the cat too) doing on such a good day? I'm assuming things are just fine, I hope so anyway. I received your letter last night (June 27 2000) and if I would have gotten it a bit earlier, then this letter could have possibly reached you yesterday. . So first things first - thank-you and Dave for the book idea's, which I'll put down near the end of this great letter. I did get the newsletter; it's a good thing to have because when things are going on in other states on (D row) the only to find out about it sometimes is through the newsletter. There are a couple of guys who get them, and I've always wanted it too, so thank you and yes I would very much like to receive a copy when available. I'm sorta disappointed in Lifelines though, look on page 27 at the title of a book. 'Welcome to Hell', a collection of letters and writings for reviews and the same book is in the death row section of books you sent me for review. Anyway, back in April, a flier came through here asking that we write to the addresses on the flier concerning the conditions etc and it said that a website called 'Terrell Welcome to Hell' was created for us also to have stuff posted to make a long story short, things that we wrote about was printed in a book without my permission. A book was never mentioned at all. I'm disappointed mostly because I'm usually the person who will try to get these guys in gear to help better 'our' situation, and I'm very quick to write about the conditions here, and I am very thankful for all that's being done for all of us, but I would feel differently if I had been told that what I wrote would be published. That is a longer story, but I won't bore you with it. Anthony is my middle name. (Chris) that's a cool name, 2 names in one, or 3, you can use Tina also? Oh well. You know Chris, you are absolutely correct about there being something in every human being that wants to help fellow humans, yes people get side tracked, damaged and the mind is sometimes blown to hell too! The answer, or a solution is plain as your statement, but its difficult when people are blinded (side tracked) by what's here, and what was here, you are able to speak on such things from the heart because you and 'nobody else' realized that it was time for a change (you used 'growing up') but it's the same thing, and then the number one reason for change is simply that people get tired of the same old things all the time. The problem is that some change too late and some never change at all, so for you to be able to say such a thing and then all the while really doing something, should have you feeling good and happy. Now all that is missing is the other 249 million people who can't seem to find the right page J Psycho babble hu? You make sense Chris, I read 'Sophie's World' I really enjoyed it. We all start mini minds before attempting many things - 'Sophie's World' would, and is a great philosophy book for you to start with, you only lose concentration because your mind may not be on philosophy until the book is actually picked up and opened. Please try this the next time you want to read some material on thought - in your mind, think of things or even the cat and wonder 'what if', 'is it possible that', 'why' and Chris, once you focused on something outside the book, believe me, the book will help you to find your own answers, or better yet, give you a billion things to think about. Trust me. I studied at Alvin community center, it's a small college in a city named ALVIN, also located in Texas. That's a complete story in itself, for me to tell you how I ended up with my education, I would have to fix up a package full of my life history so you could start at the beginning of my life as a youngster in Dallas, and that will be the next thing I send you should I be able to. Promise! Now, you seem to have knowledge of how dirty the U.S is. Sneaky country with lots of dirty secrets. [.....] so whatever comes to mind, say it, relay it, I'll open it and replay it! Now don't be trying to use my rhymes. About the library, there is a library for the regular population, the best books available are westerns, sure I'll read one, but damn, I ordered it back in MARCH! End of story. We came off lockdown on the 22nd (June), the same day a guy was executed, he was the reason for the lockdown, he threatened violence prior to being executed and had extreme ties to the outside due to him being innocent of murder, so to keep a closed lid on everything in the Death row section, they just shut everything down, I'll stick a few articles in with this letter to give you a brief view of what happened - show Dave too. Now as far as you writing, Chris, please don't waste the stamps! The prison administration don't care about me, you, or the President of your country and mine, so save the stamps. Now, before I get to the book information on the other side, please note that I have had thoughts on putting my own book together. I'm waiting on some information so you're getting the very first preview here. It's going to be on and about capital punishment, from a philosophical perspective, psychological, and how society is affected. It will have views of the pro-life side and the opposition. I intend to throw in some religion and some politics too. Once I'm set, it should be a great book. So wish me luck. Now, what I've done is make a list of books, with number one being first pick and so on, the 'so on' means that the others seem to be pretty good and basically the 'so on' means 'I wish maybe someday in the future'. You may even notice a dictionary on the list, well not a regular dictionary (but an unabridged dictionary) Technically a dictionary isn't a book? Just trying my best, you know after finally getting mail from someone and not some group has me feeling like I'm human, so don't hesitate to say 'Man you are Tripping!' Here goes; 1. The Consolations
of Philosophy - by Alain De Botton And no, I don't expect all of these books, just thinking of the future. Now before I close, I appreciate you being there for me, I may use (you) but I do mean Dave too, even though you're the writer, I know that you are almost one, you dig? I'm grateful. Now the other thing Chris, the only reason for a delay in my writing would be, because I'm out of stamps, on lockdown and can't get any, or nothing to write with. That's why it's very important to keep stamps and food - so as long as I have stamps you'll always get a quick letter. That's the main thing the pen pals usually complain about. SO with that I'm outta here. Until next time Lots of Love Anthony
