Anthony has let his friends and supporters know that he has had all of his personal property confiscated on Wednesday (Nov. 29).
All of his legal paperwork has been taken (this is supposed to be confidential!) Clearly this was seized by the Dallas Country DA's office in order to examine the correspondence between Anthony and his attorney. This means that without any legal paperwork, Anthony cannot assist in his own defense. He also cannot contact his attorney because he no longer has any records of his contact details. All of his other personal items and papers, his pens and paper and stamps and address book have been taken. Everything but the clothes on his back have been taken.
Anthony has also been moved to a higher disciplinary level - during the last 8 years he has always had an excellent disciplinary record. Anthony was moved because he complained that his spiritual advisor, Doug Tjapkes, who flew from Michigan to visit Anthony on the date of his scheduled execution, was not allowed to see him, despite prior arrangements being made with the prison authorities. It is perhaps no mean coincidence that Anthony's determination to fight for his life and for justice has caused further infringements on his rights.
Anthony has not been able to purchase stamps for nearly one month now in order to write to people. He has told us that the state authorities are trying to "show the Courts something regarding me in a negative light [and] have beyond any doubt have created a hostile environment for me, in which, now - subsequent to the stay of execution - [they] are using tactics to intimidate me and have gone so far as creating situations that will make even a person in the Free World complain. For example, I have not been allowed to purchase any stamps, writing materials, or anything else since Nov 5th 2006 and today is Nov 29th - approx two weeks after receiving the stay of execution. And even though my trust fund account has been reactivated, the problem now is that my ID card used to make the purchases has suddenly disappeared and my complaints have been in vain. This is because the ranking officials do not care and as far as they are concerned I should have been killed on 11-16-06 and to help me would be doing too much for me. I ask all of my friends to email or fax the Director of the Texas TDCJ - Institutional Division and let them know of your concern for my welfare, the harrassment that is continuing and the lack of regard for my complaints. At this point I do feel that I have more than enough reasons to be afraid for my personal safety". (Address below)
